Fernando Ruiz replaces Jorge Gordo as Director of Private Banking for BBVA in Spain

Ruiz was previously responsible for the bank’s Northwest private banking arm. Gordo becomes the new head of resources and synergies for the wholesale segments.

Change in the management of BBVA Private Banking. Fernando Ruiz will become the new director of the bank’s division in Spain after the departure of Jorge Gordo, as the bank itself announced.

Ruiz joins the national board after being responsible for the bank’s North West private banking division, where he landed in 1997 and where he has held various positions in both private and commercial banking. For his part, Jorge Gordo, who has 25 years of experience at BBVA, has been responsible for private banking for the past six years since 2016.

From now on, he will continue in his new position as head of resources and synergies in the wholesale segments (corporate and business banking, institutions and real estate) in the company. “This is a newly created position in which resource management has a very prominent place and whose role will also accelerate the large existing synergies with private banking,” the bank explains.

Currently and according to the latest private banking ranking by FundsPeople, BBVA Banca Privada was in third place with EUR 98,000 million at the end of 2021.
